The Time Traveler

Live your life. How often have we heard this phrase? Can we even count the number of ways in which that phrase can be stated? How about “do what though wilt is the whole of the law” or “do what you want to do” or “be who you want to be” or even “live how you want to live?” Life can be seen as a state of being. It can appear to be carefree. Even pointless at times. But no matter how one may view it, life just is. And so, the only real question or the only wonder is, “What is it? What is life? Why are we here? Why do we live? Why do we exist? Why live if all we have to look forward to is dying? Why should we just live our life? Is there a reward for us in doing so after death?
When I started asking myself these questions, it was only natural that I would turn to religion for answers. However, after conducting my own investigation, I realized that religion wouldn’t be able to provide me with the knowledge I sought after. Religion as it turns out, is nothing more than a cesspool of segregated thoughts. A surefire recipe for division and chaos.
Let’s face it. There are numerous religions. Too many to even number. And yet, there seems to be new religions being introduced to the public at a rapid pace. With so many paths to what one may call enlightenment, it’s difficult to know who is right or who is wrong.
Of course, there could be more than one way for us to live but that way of thinking doesn’t remove the confusion. It just adds frustration which can lead to morality becoming undesirable. It’s like, “why not do what you want because it doesn’t matter in the end, anyway.” If we’re just living to die why not live it up to the fullest before we kick the bucket. Right or wrong, death is our inevitable conclusion.
I refuse to believe that. It doesn’t add up. Why would we be given the gift of life just for us to die?
Forgive me. I jumped the bucket and forgot to introduce myself. My name is Hue, and I have the power to manipulate time. My gift enables me to traverse the multiverse. I use my talent to try and understand the reason for being and to aid a secret organization known as The Naworbian (Nah-war-be-in) Society who have tasked themselves with spreading biblical literacy across the multiverse.
To clarify, I am not a religious person, but I do respect what others believe. With that being said, I was drawn in to help the organization after they shared a recent finding.
Before meeting me, they managed to visit four other universes. Neither the bible nor Jesus Christ existed in those alternate realities. So, they asked me to travel to other universes to find out if their Savior had been present in any of them.
Once again, I found myself dipping into numbers, I couldn’t keep track of but in all my research, I found that Jesus Christ and the Bible only existed in what we believe to be, the main timeline.
What’s more?
The devil’s presence was still felt by all.
What could this possibly mean?
No one had a clue or at least no one provided an answer they weren’t willing to share. Either way, it all comes down to me to be able to crack the code. My powers make me the most viable candidate. It won’t be easy, though.
You see, for some reason in the timelines where the Savior of Christianity never presented himself, I am not able to travel to a time before the first two hundred years of reported life. However, I can travel to a universes’ ending. Then, in the only timeline where Yeshua was born, I am able to go to the beginning, but I cannot move forward in time. Not even a second more.
It would seem that there is a greater force at play. A power that I will never grasp. Yet, it doesn’t deter me. It feels me with an eagerness that I can only describe as “purpose driven.”
I will figure out the secrets of the multiverse. I will come to understand Jesus’ absence in other timelines. I will find my reason for being. I will come to know what life really is.
Enjoy the journey!
